West Bombay Beach Vegetation Enhancement

Construction Completed
West Bombay Beach includes 93 acres of U.S. Bureau of Reclamation property which is leased by the California Department of Parks and Recreation. The site has been implemented as a vegetation enhancement project using a combination of stormwater spreading, engineered roughness using straw bales, seeding, and surface roughening.

The purpose of this project is to increase the surface roughness through placement of non-erodible organic elements, create swales along contour lines to promote stormwater spreading and establish and expand native vegetation through stormwater spreading and groundwater supply,
